Submit Your Work to Concisely

Concisely is a print magazine interested in publishing stories under 500 words. We publish quarterly and review submissions year-round.

We are interested in both fiction and nonfiction, but want pieces that read like stories, not essays. Work of any genre or theme is welcome. We do not, however, publish any poetry. Please, no previously published work or simultaneous submissions. Please limit submissions to one story each month.

Submissions should be sent to editor@conciselymagazine.com with “Concisely Submission – Author’s Name” as the subject. Submissions may be included in the body of the email or attached in any standard format. A cover letter isn’t necessary, but including a very brief one is ideal.

We try hard to reply to submissions quickly, often responding within a couple of days and never taking longer than four months. If we’re planning to include a story in the magazine, we’ll invite the writer to send a short bio (under 100 words).

Concisely asks for first serial rights and permission to copy edit the work. If we are interested in posting a story as a sample on our website, we will seek explicit permission. All contributors get two complimentary copies of the magazine.
